LIVE FAST. LIVE FULL. — The KC Cook Story

"Every breath is a battle. But every day is a race worth running."

— KC Cook

Some stories don't begin with a choice. They begin with a diagnosis. KC Cook's story began at age one, when doctors told his family he had cystic fibrosis—a genetic, progressive, life-shortening disease with no cure. What happened next is a story about speed, purpose, and an unstoppable refusal to be defined by limitation.

SECTION 01 — ORIGINS: A BOY BORN FIGHTING

KC Cook was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis before he could walk. For KC, that diagnosis set the terms of his childhood—but it never set the terms of his character.

KC lives with approximately 40% lung capacity. To understand what that means physically, imagine breathing through a coffee straw—every breath, every hour, every day. For most people, a brisk walk or a short jog is an afterthought. For KC, every physical demand on his body is a negotiation. Yet from an early age, he was drawn not to stillness, but to speed.

Growing up in Southern California, KC discovered motorsports as a child and never looked back. The track became his escape—a place where the roar of the engine drowned out the noise of medical bills, doctor visits, and the weight of a shortened horizon. In a world that constantly reminded him of what he couldn't do, racing reminded him of what he could.

What is Cystic Fibrosis?

  • A genetic disease affecting the lungs and digestive system caused by a defective CFTR gene that produces thick, sticky mucus.

  • Affects approximately 40,000 Americans.

  • Progressive and currently without a cure; median life expectancy has improved significantly with new therapies but remains shortened.

SECTION 02 — THE DRIVER AND THE METAPHOR

KC Cook didn't just find racing. He mastered it, competed in it, and turned it into a platform. As a race car driver, coach, and mentor in Southern California, KC has competed at high levels while using the sport as a living metaphor and a public declaration.

His race car is a rolling billboard for CF awareness, covered in messaging that forces spectators, competitors, and sponsors to stop, look, and ask questions. Every lap KC runs is a conversation starter. Every finish line he crosses is a statement: CF doesn't get to write the ending.

"CF doesn't have to define your limits. It can define your drive." — KC Cook

Racing gave KC a philosophy that would crystallize into a motto: LIVE FAST. LIVE FULL. Live with urgency. Live with intention. Don't let a diagnosis become a destination.

SECTION 03 — THE MISSION: BUILDING THE BOOST FOUNDATION

Out of personal experience—and personal pain—KC Cook founded The Boost Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Southern California focused on three core pillars:

  • EDUCATE: Give CF a face and a voice through events, media, community partnerships, and storytelling.

  • EMPOWER: Connect those living with CF to once-in-a-lifetime motorsport experiences—trackside meet-and-greets, ride-alongs, and behind-the-scenes access.

  • ELEVATE: Raise the visibility of this disease within mainstream culture, the sports world, and the philanthropic community.

Boost by the Numbers

  • Certification: 501(c)(3) nonprofit

  • Grant Programs: LIVEFAST & LIVEFULL

  • Annual Flagship Event: Full Throttle Classic Golf Tournament & Car Show

  • Community Partners: Greenside News and the American Golf Foundation

SECTION 04 — THE GRANTS: THE BOOST WARRIOR FUND

The Boost Warrior Fund administers two key grant programs:

Grant Name Target Audience Purpose
THE LIVEFAST GRANT Motorsports Enthusiasts Supports individuals seeking financial aid to participate in racing, karting, sim racing, and track events.
THE LIVEFULL GRANT General Athletics & Fitness Supports individuals pursuing hockey, soccer, swimming, adaptive sports, and general fitness programs.

How to Apply: Both grant programs are open to individuals living with CF and other serious medical conditions. Visit Boostcf.org for eligibility information and application details.

SECTION 05 — WARRIOR SPOTLIGHT: PARKER'S STORY

"Hockey isn't just a sport for me—it's the place where I forget that I'm sick. The LIVEFULL Grant gave me that back."

— Parker Fry, #LIVEFULL Grant Recipient

For Parker Fry, who was born with cystic fibrosis, a three-minute shift on the ice is a brutal battle for breath. The daily treatment regimen alone can consume two to four hours of a CF patient's day, but Parker carved out enough breath and stubbornness to fall in love with hockey.

The LIVEFULL Grant helped cover Parker's league fees, equipment costs, and ice time, proving to him that his dreams mattered. KC Cook made sure Parker didn't have to face financial hurdles alone to chase his physical passion.

SECTION 06 — THE EVENT: THE FULL THROTTLE CLASSIC

Every cause needs a gathering. For the Boost Foundation, that day is the Full Throttle Classic—a unique collision of the fairway and the fast lane.

LEGACY: THE LAST LAP

"LIVE FAST. LIVE FULL. It's not just a motto. It's a mission. It's a movement. And it belongs to all of us." — KC Cook

The Boost Foundation is not a charity that exists to generate pity. It exists to generate proof—proof that physical activity heals, that community amplifies courage, and that support can redirect the trajectory of a person's life.
