The Long Beach Golf Festival rolled on in spectacular fashion this week as Southern California’s top women golfers took center stage across two of Long Beach’s most iconic signature courses. Here is how the action unfolded at the 2026 Women’s City Amateur Championship and Women’s Challenge.
Day 1: Perfect Conditions at Recreation Park 18
The tournament kicked off at Recreation Park 18, where a full field of more than 40 players teed off under pristine, clear Southern California skies. Golf News Channel cameras captured a brilliant showcase of local talent and rising competitors.
Early on, "Rec 18" demanded precision. The course rewarded strict accuracy off the tee, setting the stage for an incredibly tight and competitive leaderboard heading into the final round.
Day 2: Navigating the Elements at Skylinks
On Day 2, the venue shifted to Skylinks Golf Course, and with it, the intensity shifted into high gear. As the morning progressed, the notorious coastal winds began to pick up, turning the final round into a true test of ball-striking, patience, and course management.
Skylinks heavily rewarded commitment. Players who trusted their lines and stayed patient found rare scoring opportunities, while the gusty breeze ensured that no lead felt entirely safe. Crowds followed the championship group throughout the afternoon, highlighting the booming local support for women’s golf in Long Beach and the festival’s continued dedication to elevating the women's game.

The Women’s City Amateur Championship Division
At the top of the championship board, Sophia Fuja showcased masterful, composed play from start to finish. Shading her shots beautifully into the coastal breeze and controlling the pace on the trickiest of greens, she held off a fierce charge from the field.
Not only did Fuja secure the prestigious 2026 Women’s City Amateur Championship title, but she also took the early lead in the first leg of the LA Area Women’s Municipal Golf Championships—a rigorous four-course tournament tracking across LA County.
Close behind, Sarah Mutai and Kylie Fe kept the pressure on until the very end with confident approaches and clutch tee shots.
